Literary Essay
"The Prison" written by Bernard Malamud, was about a man called Tommy Castelli who was obliged to work in a candy shop and to marry a woman that he does not love. In this essay the themes, which are "Life as prision" and "Hope for a change", will be analysed.
The theme was "Life as prision" because althougt he did not go to prision, his life become one. Tommy feels that his life was like a prision because he married with a woman he did not love and he work in a job that he did not choose. Also he did not want to finish like his uncle that he really was in prision. "Thoughhe tried not to think of it, at twenty-nine Tommy Castelli's life was a screaning bore".
"Hope for a change" was a theme beacuse Tommy wanted the girl to stop setaling. He hoped the girl would change after reading his letter. And also he wanted his life to change, he wanted to be free in a way and did not be in the prison of his life. "He felt the aught to do something for her".
this essay the themes, which were "life as prision" and "Hope for a change" were analysed. I believe that these themes "Life as prision" and "Hope for a change" represent and make you refelct about being a thief and that stole is very bad, because what you do always came again.
